Pavillon de La Muette
The Pavillon de La Muette
is part of the great tradition of exceptional venues rooted in French royal history. Built on the site of a former hunting lodge commissioned by François I, the location was, from the Renaissance onwards, a privileged space reserved for the most intimate moments of the court.
In the 18th century, Louis XV entrusted his architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel—also the designer of the Petit Trianon—with the construction of an elegant and functional hunting pavilion. Designed to host the king and his entourage during the great winter hunts, the venue combines comfort, refinement, and discretion.

A setting of nature and prestige
Nestled in the heart of an exceptional natural environment, the Pavillon de La Muette offers a unique setting, where majestic forest meets historical heritage. This harmony between nature and architecture creates a distinctive atmosphere, both serene and prestigious.
Once, this environment allowed kings to escape the rigid protocol of Versailles. Today, it still offers a rare experience—that of a timeless place, where one can reconnect with what truly matters while enjoying an exceptional setting.
A place of power and encounters
Under the Ancien Régime, hunting was far more than a leisure activity—it was a true instrument of power and representation. It required a highly organized structure and brought together many key figures of the royal court. The Pavillon thus became a setting for strategic meetings, informal exchanges, and pivotal moments in political life.
Louis XVI, a passionate hunter, also frequented the estate regularly, further anchoring the Pavillon in French royal history.
Later, Napoleon I recognized the importance of these traditions and reintroduced the Pavillon into a diplomatic context. He hosted hunts and gatherings with influential figures of his time, transforming the venue into a space of influence and strategy.
A heritage across the centuries
The Pavillon de La Muette has stood the test of time without ever losing its exceptional character. From the monarchy to the Empire, through the upheavals of the French Revolution, it remains a remarkable witness to France’s history.
The site has welcomed sovereigns, emperors, courtiers, and artists, each contributing to its identity and aura. Today, it embodies a living heritage, where every stone tells a story.
A comtemporary revival
After periods of decline, the Pavillon has undergone a meticulous restoration aimed at preserving its authenticity while restoring its original splendor. This careful rehabilitation now allows the full value of this historic monument to be appreciated, respecting both its architecture and its heritage.
This revival reflects a desire to bring a place rich in history back to life, while adapting it to the modern standards of luxury and high-end events.
